Our story

We’re Xander and Zane, the husband-and-wife team behind Nurture Play. We founded it on one belief: children do best when they have space for unstructured, open-ended play.

How Nurture Play began

Xander and Zane’s experiences as parents led them to create a space for other families to discover the value of open-ended play.

  1. Finding new meaning

Zane left the IT company she had co-founded, stepping away from corporate life to care for her child. Spending time with her family and growing together gave her a deep sense of purpose and fulfilment.

  2. Seeing play in a new light

As Zane focused on parenting and nurturing her child, she came to understand how crucial play is to children’s growth, giving them opportunities to try things out and the freedom to fail.

  3. A shared purpose

Inspired by Zane, Xander freed up most of his time to support the family. Together, they founded Nurture Play to welcome children to play, explore and learn.

Sharing what matters to us

Through Nurture Play, we hope to help more caregivers understand the importance of play and encourage everyone to treat children with respect and kindness.

Connection creates the space for growth

Children who feel connected to the adults around them feel safe. That safety gives them the confidence to explore and to do things their own way.
